It should be noted that there are options for the same laptop using LCD screens instead of the high-end OLED display, and this will also lower the potential retail price. The Alienware 13 R3 starts at just $1,199, but with a few upgrades and additional features, it can go up to $2,099. The battery life for the laptop lasted an average of four hours, even when running movies at 4K resolutions.

My laptop came with a 4940mX CPU back in 2014, they advertized the laptops CPU had an OC of UP TO 4.4GHZ, which never worked, they had been selling this laptop under false advertizement for about 5 months, in which I was on the phone 24/7 trying to figure out: why they lied, or if they didn't why my laptop after 3 cpu replacements, 2 MOBO replacements, and another 2 GPU replacements did not do what was advertized, after having my whole system exchanged, they released a BIOS update in like december or january, which FINALLY enabled the laptop to OC, of course this went all over the news, but the real story of how alienware was falsely advertising in order to sell a product was covered up nicely.A promotional image for Alienware 13 Dell/AlienwareĪlienware has just launched the Alienware 13 R3 laptop. TBH alienware went way down hill since dell bought it:)) In that case you're temps are pretty normal, I get around 80-85 during stress and 85-90 at times in WOT myself, fans take sooo long to kick in, either get external cooling pad, or use the fan control post and tinker with it. I found the post for fan control but to be honest I wasn't expect I would have to try this with an expensive Alienware laptop. Alienware is famed for having a fan problem:)

OP, basically it's from the fans not kicking in when they need to, aka taking too long to start up, I bet the CPU hits 100c before the fans even hit 100% speed, use Hwinfo 64 or MSI afterburner or something similar to make custom fan curves for your CPU and GPU, a quick google will instruct you how to best do that, and that will make the fans activate and keep temps down instead of waiting for the temps to go sky high. but that's just because it's a huge laptop. what laptop do you have? 13 15 or 17 in? the smaller the laptop the higher the heat, in my alienware 18 with the 4940mx clocked at 4.6Ghz i barely reach 85.

Well for WOT it only uses a single core, so obviously core 1 is going to be a lot higher. I think repaste would be the option but as I am still on warranty I don't want to open my laptop alone. My ALW17R3 when I play Word of Tanks goes the CPU to 92-98 especially core1 but in stress test stay at 85. I have exactly the same problem like you.
